Communicating effectively with parents is a primary task for those who care for and educate children. Just as some children are easier to care for and teach, some parents are easier to communicate with than others. Establishing effective communication is essential, but can sometimes be difficult, especially when parent are angry or upset. This course discusses the benefits of, and responsibilities for, establishing effective communication with difficult parents. Parental mind-sets and personality traits that hinder effective communication are identified, and methods and techniques for overcoming communication barriers are discussed. We will also offer tips on how to resolve conflicts and communication challenges with parents.
